Growing Food
Building Community
We're an educational non-profit working to cultivate healthy communities through food and education. We envision a thriving network of collaborative, vibrant communities that value the connection between food and health.
AMI's fully sponsored 18-month Fellowship prepares individuals to become teachers and advocates for a food system that is environmentally, economically and socially just. Fellows spend six months in an immersive Farm and Food Study followed by at Community Action Year with partner organizations.
AMI is dedicated to training farmers and gardeners, bolstering the local food economy, and improving access to healthy, nutrient-dense food. Our produce is incorporated into educational and health promotion projects, donated to hunger relief, and is available for sale at local outlets.
The AMI Farm at Augusta Health is a joint venture of AMI and Augusta Health to raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating and sustainable growing practices to promote health and wellbeing in the community. Join our educational sessions!
"I experienced six months of personal and botanical growth living atop Allegheny Mountain learning about the many intersections between food and community."
